Information Technology

The Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for managing corporate technology and infrastructure, computer systems, and data resources. The IT team provides service to approximately 650 staff, and supports public and internal systems, such as financial, property and taxation, payroll, materials management, budget, recreation, business licences, emergency services, and the geographic information system (GIS). The department also maintains corporate communications assets, which include telephone, radio, email, networks, cabling, switches and servers.

Technical Advice

Beyond day-to-day operations, the department plans and coordinates strategic technology direction and investments, develops standards and system architectures, and provides business solutions to help front-line departments deliver public services proficiently and securely.

Innovation

The IT team stays on top of current technology and security trends, and works to maximizing the use of all technological investments. Systems and services are continually monitored, and analytical and business intelligence (BI) tools are used to continuously improve access (open and transparently) to data and information.

By embracing newer technologies and continual education, the IT Team strive to maintain the City of Maple Ridge as a technology leader. Ongoing efforts allow us to create and continue relationships internally with our business units, as well as with IT vendors and other cities, both in Canada and internationally. The IT team has amassed a vast amount of experience and expertise, in order to provide the highest quality services to its citizens.
