Important Documents to Keep in Your Emergency Kit

Because emergencies can happen at any time and at any place, you won’t always have time to collect everything you need. That’s just one reason why every household should have an emergency kit. If you are evacuated or otherwise displaced, you may not have the time to find all your important information. Keeping copies of things like emergency contacts and insurance policies in can help alleviate the stress of an emergency situation.

As part of your family emergency plan, you should have contacts both in and out of the city who can help you and your family in an emergency. In addition to keeping your emergency contacts in your phone, you should print this Emergency Contact Sheet (PDF) and fill it out. Keep a copy or your emergency contacts in your Emergency Kit, you may also want to keep a copy in your vehicle along with a map to help you get there.
